Hyderabad, Feb.5: The senior Telangana Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, Mr V Hanumantha Rao, on Saturday said that the party high command would definitely take disciplinary action against the CWC member, Mr G Venkatswamy, for making pungent remarks and demanding the resignation of the AICC supremo, Ms Sonia Gandhi, recently.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Hanumanth Rao said that though the octogenarian Congress leader has withdrawn his remarks against Ms Gandhi later, the high command would not spare him for his outburst against the party president.
Referring to the Income Tax raids on the residences, offices and companies owned by the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader, Mr Nama Nageshwar Rao, on Friday, Mr Hanumanth Rao asserted that it was not vindictive action by the government against the TDP leader. He condemned allegations against the Congress party and government in this regard.
Stating that the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, was sincere in rooting out corruption, Mr Hanumanth Rao said that the arrest of the former Telecom minister and DMK leader A Raja proves Dr Singh’s sincerity beyond an iota of doubt. Opposing the BJP demand for Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Telecom scam, Mr Rao asked the former whether it does not remember the corrupt activities of the Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr Yeddyurappa. The Telangana leader said that the Prime Minister was taking immediate action wherever mistakes occurred as he was answerable to the people of the country.
He also demanded that the State government order a thorough probe into the EMMAR properties’ scam. (NSS)
