10,000 Cops to keep watch in Kadapa

Kadapa: The Rayalaseema region Inspector General of Police, Mr Santosh Mehra, on Thursday said that a large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed in Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency in view of the ensuing by-elections in Kadapa and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Mehra said that paramilitary forces have been stationed in the sensitive and problematic areas in the constituencies. He also said that two help lines (94935 48224 and 94935 48225) have been set up so that the people could lodge complaints about the poll-related incidents.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Police, Mr K Aravinda Rao, said that paramilitary forces from the neighbouring Tamilnadu and Karnataka States were being drafted for bandobust duty in Kadapa. He also said that the paramilitary forces in Hyderabad will be sent to Kadapa. In all, over 10,000 police personnel will be on election duty in Kadapa, he added.

The Director General of Police along with the Chief Election Officer, Mr Banwarlal, held a video conference with police and election officials in Kadapa on Wednesday. (NSS)
