Hyderabad, April 17 : The Deputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, has said that all legal complications were clarified regarding initiating action against the MLAs, Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Mr N Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Mr Bala Nagi Reddy and due process will start soon.
Mr Manohar, in his chambers, sat with the State Advocate General, Mr Sudarshan Reddy and the Assembly Legal Advisor, Mr Jandhyala Shankar, on Sunday and held prolonged discussions on initiating action against the three MLAs. “Now we have complete clarity on the issue”, he said, adding that the process would start very soon. He said that he conferred with the legal experts because his office did not get any notice from courts. “Here Manohar is not important, the chair is important and hence I took adequate safeguards”, he said, adding that every one has doubts including former presiding officers, media and political leaders on initiating process against the MLAs. Hence I took these precautions before proceeding with the work.
It may be mentioned here that many have expressed doubts on the authority of the Deputy Speaker arguing whether he had the right to initiate action against the MLAs responding on complaints against them. Another doubt expressed by many was whether to respond to the TDP’s complaint against Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy or on latter’s resignation to his MLA’s post. (NSS)
