Justice L Narsimha Reddy of the high court on Friday faulted Secunderabad Club for denying membership to an applicant on the grounds that he is the son of the second wife of his father. He relied on a rule of the club that sons of permanent members are entitled to become members on attaining the age of 25 years.
The club kept his application in abeyance on the ground that his brother had filed a suit and the same was pending with the high court. It pleaded that since the petitioner was the son of the second wife of his father, he was not entitled to membership.
Faulting the manner and approach of the club, Justice Narasimha Reddy said that once the status of son is not in dispute, confirming of such right should not depend on the whims of the committee members.TOI
