The Central Bureau of Investigation will begin a probe into former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s illegal assets case soon after it receives two sets of the ‘paper book’ of writ petition along with the material papers from the AP High Court registrar (judicial). The investigation is likely to begin on Monday once the formalities are completed The High Court, in the order, directed Y.S. Vijayalakshmi’s counsel to deposit eight more sets of the paper book filed in the writ petition together with the material papers within a week from November 14, and the registrar will make them available to CBI, DGP, Enforcement Directorate and the home secretary. Each of them will get two sets.
CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana said that the agency would question those named depending on the need during the preliminary probe. CBI is likely to rope in teams from other state like Delhi depending on the need. Meanwhile, the state police is yet to assign the case. A special investigation team or CID teams are likely to probe the case. Ms Vijayalakshmi’s counsel K. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Three days ago, we had submitted the eight sets of documents to the HC. We have even sent the court order, writ petition and sets of papers to the all four agencies including the CBI.” The book consists of 2,400 pages with evidence and other related documents. DC
