Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanms is contemplating to press into service an Automatic Moving Platform to facilitate the devotees to have quick darshan of Lord Venkateshwara. The battery-operated Moving Platform can carry 12 devotees at a time and ensure darshan of the presiding deity in 15 to 20 seconds. At this rate, some 70 to 90 devotees can have darshan in a minute.

The TTD Executive Officer, Mr Krishna Rao, on Thursday inspected trial run of the Moving Platform at Alipiri. He said that the machine is likely to be pressed into service in two months to avoid jostling among devotees in the serpentine queue and help them have quick darshan. The EO pointed out that the Moving Platform would be used whenever there was heavy influx of devotees in the sacred hills.

However, the Agama Sastra Advisor Sri Sundara Vadana Bhattacharya objected to the proposal saying that the devotees cannot perform Sevas from the Moving Platform. (NSS)
