Hyderabad: The PCC has urged the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mr Bhanwarlal, to restrict mobility of unidentified vehicles under the limits of Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency immediately and send the outsiders out of the constituency.

The PCC Legal Cell and Poll Control Room coordinators, Mr B Srinivas Goud and Mr G Rama Rao, and the PCC general secretary, Mr Rudraraju Padmaraju, have submitted a letter to the CEO to this effect here on Tuesday. They also expressed doubts about fair polling in several booths in Kadapa.

They requested the CEO to pay special attention to the by-elections and declare 100-meter radius around every polling station as protected area with adequate armed security. Stating that two days before the polling day will be crucial and critical, they said that the presiding officers and

election personnel will face coercion and threats to their lives. Food, water, accommodation and protection arrangements be looked after by higher officials like EC observers to prevent risk and ensure free and fair polling.

They also alleged that the YSR Congress Party Chief was adopting dubious measures to dole out gifts to party workers and leaders in the form of new vehicles, money transfer through bank accounts and other gifts. Restrictions and stringent checks at various points in the constituency resulted in the seizure of huge amounts from unidentified motorists. The plying of new vehicles without registration numbers was being noticed in several parts of the constituency, they added. (NSS)
