Hyderabad: Admitting that the Congress Party had failed in preparation to face the Kadapa bye-election, the Transport Minister Mr Botsa Sathyanarayana has said that taking the Kadapa, Pulivendula bye-election results as a fitting lesson, every one has to own the responsibility of the defeat and co-operate in revitalizing the Party, and winning the confidence of the people in favour of the State government.
Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Saturday, Mr Botsa has dared the YSR Congress Party Chief Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to announce the list of MLAs and the Ministers who were supporting him, and make them to resign to their posts. He made it clear that the Congress leaders won’t submit their resignations to invite mid-term elections, and added that the MLAs and the Ministers who were supporting Mr Jagan have to submit their resignations and prove their strength by contesting again.
Expressing happiness over the results in five States elections, the Minister said that the bye-elections in the State, however, have left the party in an unhappy situation. He said that the Congress Party has the responsibility to asses the defeat in Kadapa bye-elections. He opined that the State government had failed to create confidence in the people that it was continuing the schemes introduced by late Dr YSR allotting funds adequately. He admitted that the Congress leaders have failed in taking the message to the people effectively. He also said that the government failed to allot funds immediately to 108 vehicles. “The government would have got good name among the people if it has allotted funds to 108 vehicles”, he said.
Opining that the Kadapa bye-elections were usual, Mr Botsa has said that the Party has to take the election as an experience. He said that there was no fault in deploying the ministers in Kadapa bye-elections and added that with that experience, the ministers would try to take the Party forward. The experience of Kadapa bye-elections would help the Ministers to ensure that its impact would not fall on other districts. Rejecting the argument that the participation of ministers in the Kadapa bye-election campaign has improved the sentiment in favor of Mr Jagan, the Minister said that it was common in bye-elections, and the TRS did the same in the recent bye-elections. “That time too, the ministers had participated, but TRS candidates registered record victories”, he opined.
Wants Centre to decide on Telangana
Finding fault with the argument that the by-election has proved that Mr Jagan was the heir of Dr YSR, he said that in a democratic system, there was no scope for heirs system. He said that the ministers were taking collective decisions even though the issues in the State were very sensitive.
Mr Botsa has said that the Centre has to take a decision on Telangana issue immediately to clear the clumsy situation in the State. He said that TDP had made all the difference, and hence the creation of separate State has become a big problem. He also opined that the State government has to conduct the SI recruitment exam without inviting any problem.
He said that he was one among those who made the Chief Minister to announce a House Committee on the alleged irregularities during Dr YSR tenure. (NSS)
