Hyderabad: A clash between the ruling Congress and Telugu Desam party activists in the Nagole area on the city outskirts led to a mild lathi-charge by the police on Tuesday morning.

When the local Congress MLA, Mr Sudheer Reddy, who submitted resignation to the Assembly seat recently for the sake of Telangana State, turned up at the cement concrete road inauguration programme at Samathapuri Colony, the Telugu Desam party corporators objected to the MLA’s participation questioning how he could participate in a government function after resigning from the elective post. With this, the enraged followers of Mr Sudheer Reddy attacked the TDP activists and corporators.

In protest against the attack by the MLA’s followers, the TDP activists squatted on the road bringing vehicular traffic to a standstill. As the situation was slipping out of control, the police intervened and dispersed the Congress and TDP activists by resorting to a mild cane-charge.
