Hyderabad: The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in a letter to Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Information Technology and Communications, Mr Kapil Sibal requested to establish the proposed second centre of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh which would be very near to the existing campus in Bangalore.
In his letter the Chief Minister said “Andhra Pradesh is a pioneering state in creating the best of the talent pool in the country with more than 2,80,000 engineering graduate enrolments per year. I am glad to share that the students from Andhra Pradesh has excelled in every competitive and entrance examinations including AIEEE, IIM, Civil Services etc.
However, there are very few Public Sector Institutions of repute where the students of the state can benefit. Government of Andhra Pradesh is looking for your support in setting up an independent second campus of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh.
I am sure the presence of this premier institution will facilitate the best talent in Andhra Pradesh in augmenting the research in science for building a stronger India.
I request you to kindly arrange to issue necessary directions to the concerned for moving a proposal to establish the proposed second centre India Institute of Science (IISc) at Anantapur in the State which would be very near to the existing campus in Bangalore.
I assure the fullest support of Government of Andhra Pradesh in establishment of prestigious institute in Andhra Pradesh by providing all required infrastructure facilities and various clearances for the project.”
