Mahabubnagar: The Mahbubnagar district Collector, Mr Purushotham Reddy, on Friday appealed to the people living below the Jurala project along the Krishna river, to remain vigilant as water would be released for cultivators from Monday.

Stating that large quantity of water was flowing into the Jurala reservoir on account of heavy rains on the upper riparian area, the Collector directed the officials to see that fishermen do not go out for fishing. He held a review meeting with the officials on the latest situation.

At present, 2.25 lakh cusecs of water was being let out from the Jurala reservoir by lifting 30 sluice gates as about two lakh cusecs of water was coming from Narayanpur reservoir, he added. The water level in the reservoir is expected to rise further this evening due to downpur, he added.
