Kurnool: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday directed the irrigation engineers to complete Handrineeva Irrigation project works by August 15.
Talking to media persons after interacting with the irrigation engineers concerned as part of his tour to Kurnool district at Nandikottur mandal, the Chief Minister said that by completing the project by August 15, the farmers would be able to get water for their Kharif crop.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy advised the engineers to speed up the construction works on the project, saying that the government is committed to provide irrigation water in the region by August 15.
“The project, when completed, would provide water to irrigate 22,000 acres of land in the district. Besides this, the project would also solve the problem of shortage of drinking water too,” the Chief Minister said.
Later, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy proceeded to Banagalapalle, where he interacted with the government officials there. He advised the government officials to prioritise the completion of long-pending works.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to continue all the schemes and projects introduced or envisaged by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, in letter and spirit.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added that the government also committed to provide 15 lakh jobs to unemployed youth in the next three years by improving their skills.(INN)
