Kadapa, April 17 : The former minister and YSR Congress Party leader, Ms Konda Surekha, has said that Congress leaders have now understood the fact that they would not be able to defeat Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in Kadapa and his mother, Ms Vijaya Lakshmi, in Pulivendula. Therefore, the Congress leaders were now resorting to all kinds of gimmicks to at least reduce their majorities, she added.
Addressing an election meeting in Prodduturu on Sunday, she said the Congress was now trying to either threaten the voters or entice them with money to get votes. She said she had information that an amount of Rs 150 crores was already sent to Kadapa district for distribution to the voters. She has asked the people to take money if some one was offering, but vote for only Jagan and Vijayalakshmi. She said that there was nothing wrong in taking the money as it was ill-gotten. She has called upon the people to ensure that both the YSR Congress candidates got better majority than earlier.
Appreciating Mr Y S Vivekananda Reddy for resigning from his minister post and getting it accepted, Ms Surekha has asked why the Kadapa Congress candidate, Mr D L Ravindra Reddy not resigned. Heckling the minister, she said that he was not confident that he would be once again included in the Cabinet if he lost the election and hence retained his position. She said that it was unethical on the part of Mr Ravindra Reddy not to resign from the State cabinet, as he was contesting to the Lok Sabha. (NSS)
