Hyderabad, April 16 : The Secretary of the State Council of Communist Party of India, Dr K Narayana, has warned the State government against its alleged attempts to hand over the newly-built premises of Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences near Bibinagar in Nalgonda district to corporate bodies.

Speaking to mediapersons, Dr Narayana said that his party would not tolerate and resist moves if the government decided to give the NIMS premises to private persons. He also made it clear that they would not hesitate to lay down their lives while resisting the government’s moves if it went ahead with its ill-conceived proposal.

The CPI leader, accompanied by the MLA, Mr Ujjani Yadagiri Rao, the former MLA, Mr Palla Venkat Reddy, the CPI Greater Hyderabad executive member,  Dr D Sudhakar, the Nalgonda district party secretary, Mr Mallepalli Adi Reddy, the assistant secretary, Mr Goda Sriramulu and others armed with party flags went round the NIMS premises on Friday.

Dr Narayana lamented that the government has abandoned the premises after constructing it at a cost several crores of rupees and was toying with the idea of handing over the same to private persons. As the building was not in use, birds and honeybees formed nests and the premises was stinking. He felt that the NIMS premises could be put to use by spending another Rs 20 to 30 crores and quality medicare could be provided to the poor of Telangana districts by spending another Rs 100 crores.

Stating that they would meet the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, and urge him to bring the new NIMS premises to use, Dr Narayana made it clear that they would

plung into direct action if the former did not act in the interests of the poor people. He also warned that they would paralyse the administration by organising a mammoth dharna with one lakh persons in coordination with the like-minded parties and organisations.
