Hyderabad: Chief Secretary SV Prasad, on Thursday reviewed the preparedness of the State machinery for South-West Monsoon today in his Chambers at Secretariat.
All the Secretaries and heads of the departments with concerned officials attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary suggested to the district administrations to prepare a list of vulnerable villages which are likely to be affected during natural disasters like Cyclones and floods.
He also said that Early Warnings signals issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, (IMD), Central Water Commission (CWC) and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Service (INCOIS) relating to natural disasters should be taken seriously by the officials and urgent action has to be initiated.
The Control Rooms established during the disaster should function effectively, he said. He also asked the Civil Supplies Department to keep essential commodities like Rice and Kerosene ready in the villages which are likely to be hit. Health Department was also asked to keep the essential medicines ready.
He asked the Disaster Management Department to identity the agency for making temporary shelters like the A.P. Housing Department. He asked all the Major Departments such as Irrigation, R and B, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj etc., to identity nodal officers for Coordination with the Disaster Management Department.
Secretaries and Heads of the Department of Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, R and B, Medical and Health, Electricity Department, APSRTC, Police, Municipal Administration, Revenue have attended the meeting.(INN)
