After the terror unleashed by cyclone “Helen”, Coastal region is set to suffer yet another and most dangerous cyclone ‘Lehar’. This new cyclone will have adverse impact with its wind speeds measured at 170 km to 180 km that may leave a trail of destruction in the coastal region.
As per Metereological Department inputs, the cyclone ‘Leher’ will unleash terror by crossing the coast at 12 noon at any point possibly on next Thursday, Nov 028th..Details pertaining to Leher will be available in a couple of days. State Disaster Management Commissioner Partha Sarathi today said this to media persons at Secretariat. It will have adverse impact and the crops, old houses, roads will be under its influence, he said while alerting the officials of all coastal districts from Srikakulam to Nellore.
After an official meeting with Met department, he reviewed the situation with the officials concerned including those of coastal districts. He directed the officials concerned to gear up for preventing the loss of human lives, cattle, and crops in case of any eventuality. He also appealed to the fishermen not to venture in to the sea, while those residing in huts, old houses have to be more cautious. Meanwhile the Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy in a communiqué asked the Collectors of coastal districts to plunge into action to provide timely succor by evacuating those people from low lying areas. The State Government has recently sought the Centrerto provide adequate financial assistance towards cyclone relief.
