Hyderabad: Making it clear that the Party would go to any extent and it will also consider the disqualification action against the MLAs who were campaigning for other Party candidates while continuing in the Congress, the PCC Chief Mr D Srinivas said that the party will not keep mum over their unethical and anti-party activities. He said that disciplinary proceedings would be started soon against the MLAs who were campaigning to other party candidates and added that he was talking on this issue seriously with the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Mr Srinivas exuded confidence that the Congress Party candidates would emerge victorious in both Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies and said that the people must cast their vote to the Congress Party. He said that their slogan in election is development and its manifesto.
Refuting the Opposition Parties’ allegations, the PCC Chief said that it is after all a by-election and in no way it will be a referendum on ruling party. Making it clear that there was no word like ‘arrogance’ in the Congress party dictionary, he said that the Party has peoples’ faith and it is not the election between ‘Faith’ and ‘arrogance’, as was being dubbed by the opponents.
Mr Srinivas asserted that the Party would fight the by-election seriously and said that it is not important as to who will be the opponent candidate. The delay in selection of candidates is because of high competition in the Party, he said and added that the party invited Kandula brothers when they showed interest towards joining Congress party. He said that as part of strengthening the Party, they accepted the joining of Kandula brothers.
On allegations of misuse of power in elections, Mr Srinivas said that there is a judicious system (Election Commission) and it will conduct the elections and also to look after the irregularities if any. He said, “we have no habit of misusing power in elections’.
On Agriculture Minister, Mr YS Vivekananda Reddy’s resignation, he said that Mr Vivekananda Reddy submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister would take a decision and one has to wait and see what happens. Mr Srinivas said that late Dr YSR’s influence must be in favor of Congress in the present by-elections because he continued in the Party till his last breath and fully believed in AICC president Ms Sonia Gandhi.
Refuting the TDP Chief Mr N Chandrababu Naidu’s allegations against the ruling party, Mr Srinivas said that he will not accept Mr Naidu’s allegations and added that he is not thinking that money would buy the people in elections. He said that the Congress cadre is firm to assure the victory of the party candidates in the by-elections. He said that he is yet to decide whether to participate in the by-election campaign or not.
