Hyderabad: Mr Karumanchi Ravi Kumar, a Dalit student leader of Acharya Nagarjuna University, has lambasted the Rajahmundry MP, Mr Vundavalli Arun Kumar, for speaking “utter lies” after keeping silent for a year after the tragic demise of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
In an open letter to the Congress MP, Mr Ravi Kumar has alleged that Mr Arun Kumar has fabricated letters purportedly written by late Dr YSR at the behest of the Congress High Command to tarnish the image of the late leader and also to cause damage to the growing popularity of the young Kadapa leader, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Dalit student leader also accused the MP of resorting to vilification campaign against Mr Jagan out of jealousy and to please his Delhi bosses.
Questioning Mr Vundavalli as to what he had done for the welfare of Dalits after getting elected to the Lok Sabha with Dalit vote bank, Mr Ravi Kumar charged the MP with “fabricating and speaking lies” with an intention to mar the growing popularity of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was endearing himself to the masses in the State. The Dalit leader asked the Congress MP as to why he kept quiet when the State government has failed to help the Dalit tenant farmers who suffered heavy losses due to floods last year and the Central funds meant for SC and ST students were diverted.
Mr Ravi Kumar took serious exception to the MP’s remarks that Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, a business man, does not know anything about politics and human values. Dubbing the Congress party and Mr Vundavalli as anti-Dalits, he warned that the Dalits would teach them a fitting lesson at the ripe time. (NSS)
