Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, “daram” brings to Hyderabad a range of recycled products from organisations and initiatives from across the country. The products are available from June 4 to 15 at “daram” 1-10-3/1, Boorugu Vihar, lane next to Andhra Bank near Prakash Nagar and opposite Old Airport lane, behind Bottles & Chimneys, Begumpet. The showroom remains closed on Wednesdays.
eCoexist, a Pune based social enterprise, exhibits products like bags made of handloom cotton fabric that can be used as alternatives to plastic. These include sling bags, pouches, laptop sleeves, gift bags, conference bags and college bags.
The exhibition also showcased Natur-tec’s (www.natur-tec.com) products which include bio-based (100 per cent biodegradable and compostable) alternatives to plastic that are made from corn-starch. Their products provide sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics and the range available at daram include trash bags (bin liners), carry bags and cutlery.
Thunk (www.thunkinindia.com) works to empower livelihoods in families living in slums, with self-help groups, HIV patients and tribal communities by using materials such as tetra pack cartons, plastic carry bags, polythene covers, automobile parts, areca, banana fibre and coconut husk. Its project range available includes medium and large sized hangs, wallets, laptop bags, pouches and pen stands.
Varnajalam products are made from recycled plastic wire and discarded flex banners. They are: storage boxes/baskets, shopping bags/baskets, purses, pencil cases, student bags and aprons.
