Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Goshala Federation has severely condemned the demolition of Vijaya Radha Krishna Goshala in Visakhapatnam by the Municipal Corporation on April 25, alleging that the Corporation has resorted to such extreme and illegal move with an intention to help a politician and land grabbers.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, the Federation president, Mr Mahesh Agarwal, said that the Municipal Commissioner, Mr Vishnu has resorted to such unjust act without giving time or prior notice. “Owing to the inhuman act, as many as 60 cows were lying on the roads without having access to fodder and water. One cow perished and three other cows went missing and might have been slaughtered. Even the Goshala labourers were manhandled by the civic staff”, he claimed. He also said that the Goshala used to shelter some 60 cows and their milk and ghee were supplied to various temples free of cost.
Mr Agarwal said that the Goshala land was not in the possession of the Corporation since it was handed over to the trust for adoption by the then Municipal Commissioner, Mr K Satyanarayana in 1993. He reminded that some local people and organizations made a representations to the Municipal Corporation about the need to retain the Goshala at the same place.
Stating that the act of the Corporation amounted to violation of Article 51 A (g) of Constitution, Mr Agarwal demanded that the officials concerned be booked under Section 429 IPC and PCA Act of 1960 for their gruesome act. He also demanded that the Goshala should be restored in the same place immediately. “We are also planning to meet the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and the Governor, Mr E S L Narsimhan, in this connection, he added.
The members of Vijaya Radha Krishna Goshala, Mr P V Charan Das and Mr J Srinivas Rao, were also present. (NSS)
