Devineni Uma, followers arrested

ijayawada: Police arrested Mr Devineni Uma and other TDP leaders while they were on their way to Gollapudi to take on a challenge with the Secondary Education Minister, Mr K. Parthasarathy.

The minister and Mr Uma made allegations against each other and following this, they threw challenges and counter challenges to participate in a public debate at Gollapudi.

While the minister reached Gollapudi where the debate was organized at the Panchayat office, Mr Uma and other TDP leaders were taken into custody while they were going there. In protest against his arrest, Mr Uma squatted on the road.

Consequently, tension prevailed at the Gollapudi panchayat office. Cadres of both the Congress and the TDP have reached the place in large numbers to support their leaders. To prevent untoward incidents, a large posse of police force was posted in Gollapudi by the district authorities.
