SAHI is pleased by the gesture of NRI philanthropist and great humanitarian Dr. Prem Sagar Reddy, LA, USA for extending his support to SAHI with a donation of $100,000 (nearly Rs. 63,00,000 /-) through a US based charitable organization Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Foundation (USA) for SAHI’s work towards helping children with hearing impairment, especially for the rural kids with low socio economic conditions in Andhra Pradesh.
SAHI is an NGO supported by team of ENT surgeons, Audiologists working in Apollo hospitals with the help of concerned citizens, individual philanthropists, corporates through their CSR and Apollo hospital management.
In a cheque presentation ceremony on the Thursday at Apollo Hospitals, Mr. Sugunakar Reddy has given a cheque of $100,000 dollars on behalf of Dr. PremSagar Reddy to Dr, EC Vinay Kumar, ENT Surgeon and Secretary of SAHI in the presence of Dr. Hari Prasad, CEO, Apollo Hospitals Hyd. Mr. A. Rami Reddy from Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Foundation (USA) has also attended the event. During the occasion, Mr. Sugunakar Reddy has informed the attendees some of the charitable work that Dr. PremSagar Reddy garu has been doing over the years to the state of AP and specifically in SPSR Nellore, the dist he hails from in the fields of Health care, Education, rural infrastructure and housing. Dr. Prem Reddy has spent crores of rupees for helping the needy and committed to doing even more in the years to come for the state of AP. Some of his philanthropic work is done by Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, President, NATA a telugu association of USA.
SAHI representatives have informed the delegates regarding some of the on-going initiatives which will benefit underprivileged children suffering with various types of hearing problems. SAHI thanked Dr. Prem Reddy garu for the donation of $100,000 and said together we can make a huge difference in the society.
Nearly 10 yrs ago, SAHI embarked on the mission of “Treat all hearing impaired children in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh and beyond”. Through SAHI, to date nearly 70 ear camps have been conducted in rural areas to screen ear related problems, distributed over 1000 hearing aids, conducted near equal number of micro ear surgeries and partially helped 125 cochlear implant surgeries for required children and created awareness by educating school children & mass workers through talks as well as distributing educating pamphlets, etc. (SAHI website: www.sahiearcare.org entails chronological details of work to date). SAHI plans to utilize the donation from Dr. Premsagar Reddy garu for rural ear screening camps, conduct micro ear surgeries, provide hearing aids and conduct cochlear implant surgeries to most needy in the society.
