Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (EC) will depute six election observers for the by-elections to the Kadapa Parliament Constituency and Pulivendula Assembly constituency.
Informing this to the media persons, the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Banwarlal said that the Election Commission, generally, deputes election observers to keep an eye on the electioneering. Keeping in mind the special situation prevailing in the district, the Election Commission, for the first time, deputing one IPS officer among the observers. The IPS officer would study the law or order and security arrangements for the by-elections, he added. So far, Rs one crore, which was suspected to be for election purpose, transporting in the area, was seized by the police in Kadapa district, he added.
The CEO informed that a review meeting on law and order and security arrangements for by-elections would be held in his chamber on April 15 at 11 am. The Director General of Police (DGP) would also attend the review meeting. The meeting would discuss in detail the security strategy to be adopted for the by-polls, he added.
He revealed that three nominations for Kadapa Parliamentary segment and two nominations for Pulivendula Assembly Constituency have been received on Thursday. (NSS)
