Kadapa: Tension prevailed in the usually volatile district as news spread that two Congress workers were murdered. Subba Rayadu and Lakshminarayana, both Congress workers, were murdered by their opponents on Friday morning, in Chennamarajupalli mandal under Proddutur mandal. Old enmity is stated to be reason for the murders. Police and election authorities have heaved a sigh of relief on knowing that the murders had nothing to do with the elections.

Subba Rayudu and Lakshmi Narayana went to their farms on Friday morning and were accosted by their opponents who were already there waiting for them. The two were brutally hacked and died on the spot. Adinarayana brother of Lakshmi Narayana complained to the police of the ghastly murders. Police who reached the village have posted enough men to prevent retaliatory action by the deceased’s group. (NSS)
