Hyderabad: The devotees of Shirdi Sai Baba on Friday thronged Sai Baba temples across the state to mark Guru Purnima, a tradition to offer pooja to Guru on every Vyasa Purnima day.
The devotees beeline Sai Baba temples since early wee hours and performed poojas with utmost devotion.
At a Sai temple in Film Nagar, film star M Mohan Babu and veteran director K raghavendra Rao performed special poojas along with their family members.
On this day the disciple offer ‘puja’, a ceremonial respect to their guru (a guide with religious believes). It is celebrated on the full moon day of ‘ashad’ a month according to the Hindu calendar.
This accounts to the’ guru-shishya ‘ relationship (teacher-student) between the sage Vyas and his followers. He was believed to have started writing his Bhramasutras which are the key guidance’s for the ancient sages and wandering monks. This festival is celebrated among Hindus in all spiritual traditions all over India.
Guru Purnima comes in the month of July where all the Shirdi Sai Baba devotees perform pooja, parayana of Sri Guru Charithra, which was written by Aacharya Sri Ekkirala Bharadwaja’s Book.(INN)
