Hyderabad: Strongly defending Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s petition in the Supreme Court to quash the Andhra Pradesh High Court order of a preliminary probe by the Central Bureau of Investigations into his assets, Congress MLA Srikanth Reddy on Saturday said that the YSR Congress Party president had approached the Apex Court to defend himself against the political vendetta launched by leaders of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party.
Coming down like a ton of bricks on leaders of the two political parties, Mr Srikanth Reddy, a known supporter of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, said that petitions were filed by opponents of the Kadapa MP against him in the High Court solely due to the fact that they could not counter him on the political turf.
Incidentally, the Supreme Court had quashed Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s petition for a stay on the CBI probe, leaving the Kadapa MP’s opponents gloating over the judgement.
“Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s petition in the Supreme Court was clear and precise. He had said that the High Court’s order to the CBI was solely due to the political rivalry and hence needed to be quashed. Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had always maintained that he was ready for any probe, but will not bow down before political vendetta,” the Congress MLA told media persons at the Assembly Media Point.
He continued, “It is a known fact that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has a shrewd business mind. It is for this reason that investors have lined up to place their faith in his business ventures and has helped in his tremendous growth rate.”
“The Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders cannot digest the fact that they cannot beat him on the political turf. They experienced bitter defeat during the recent by-elections and have filed petitions on frivolous grounds in the High Court,” the Congress MLA stated.
He also reminded that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was targeted for his business deals even when his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy was alive. “Dr YSR had to spend hours negating the opposition’s attacks on Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s business deals. They (the opposition) had tried to corner him but have always failed to do so,” Mr Srikanth Reddy said.(INN)
