Kadapa: The YSR Congress Party president, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who broke away from the Congress party, on Saturday declared that he was respecting the sentiments of the people of Telangana for a separate State.

Speaking to mediapersons after discussing his party’s political resolution in the plenary, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy made it clear that his party has neither power to give Telangana nor could stop its formation. He held the Congress party totally responsible for the State turning into a cauldron, death of hundreds of youths and destruction of private and public property. Stating that the Congress-led Union government has full powers either to divide the State or to keep it united, Mr Jagan said the Congress high command was deliberately playing with the lives of the people though it knows that it could do anything.

Demanding that the Congress party stop its antics and do its legitimate duty taking the people of the three regions into confidence, Mr Jagan said the Centre could elicit opinions of all and hammer out an amicable settlement. He also said that the dramas of all political parties and leaders on Telangana issue caused immense pain to him. He felt that if a word was given, a party or an individual should stick to stand and fulfill the promise even if it was troublesome and painful. Pointing out that the 125-years old Congress party was in power, he said the Congress leadership was making the party leaders in different regions to speak on different tunes on the burning issue.

Referring to the Telugu Desam party, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed out that Mr Chandrababu Naidu had not only approved a resolution in favour of Telangana, but also forged an electoral alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. But when the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi took a decision in favour of Telangana, Mr Naidu had taken a U-turn and adopted a double tongued policy. He also described the Telangana demand as a sensitive issues.
