Kadapa: Challenges and counter challenges of resignations and re-elections are being thrown at each other by the leaders of Congress and YSR Congress as election fever grew hotter by the day in Kadapa district.
Mr Konatala Rama Krishna, former minister and YSR Congress leader has challenged the Congress leaders of the district to resign and fight elections once again with the photo of Ms Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to the media here on Tuesday, he said all the YSR Congress leaders of the district also would resign and contest with the photograph of YSR. “Let us see who would win,” he said, adding that the results of Kadapa by-elections would be a fitting reply to Congress leaders criticizing Mr Jagan.
The Revenue Minister, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, earlier challenged the Congress MLAs s supporting Mr Jagan to resign and get re-elected on the YSR Congress ticket. He had said that it was immoral to win on one party ticket and work for another party.
Replying to criticism by the YSR Congress leaders that all the welfare schemes of the late Chief Minister were stopped by the Congress government, he said it was a baseless allegation and added that none of the schemes was stopped. He, however, said that the series of by-elections were causing hindrance to the implementation of these schemes.
Another minister, Mr Sailajanath, has said that the welfare schemes and YSR could not be looked at separately. He exuded confidence that the Congress would win in Kadapa by-elections, hands down with good majority. (NSS)
