Hyderabad: Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party President Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday lashed out at the powers that be in Delhi, especially the Congress High Command, for its “witch hunting” and “vindictive” actions against late Chief Minister Y. S. Rajashekara Reddy and his family.
He was speaking to the national media at his party office in Jubilee Hills after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of the 65th Independence Day celebrations.
Opening his heart in an emotionally charged tone about the recent happenings like the High Court ordering a full-fledged CBI inquiry into his assets, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said that ever since he severed his connections with the Congress party on November 29, 2010, he was being targeted one way or other.
He lamented that after the raids by the Income Tax and Enforcement authorities and also inquiries by various departments, the Congress, in connivance with Telugu Desam, dragged him to the High Court leading to a full-fledged inquiry by the CBI. What is intriguing is that the TDP Chief Mr. Chandrababu Naidu who had been dubbing the CBI as “ Congress Bureau of Investigation” is now going gaga over the same agency”, he observed.
Deeply pained and hurt over the manner in which his father late YSR’s image was being tarnished two years after his demise, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy wondered why no one had uttered a single word of any corrupt practices or irregularities when YSR was alive.
LAND ALLOTMENTS DURING TDP REGIME
Asserting that every single decision like assignment of even one acre of land to any company taken by late YSR had the stamp of approval of the entire cabinet, the Kadapa MP pointed out that the late Chief Minister had followed and implemented the decisions and policies of the previous regimes. “Why no one has questioned about the various land allotments made to ports and industries during the nine-year rule of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu” he asked.
Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was aghast that no CBI inquiry was asked or ordered in the 2G spectrum scam involving thousands of crores. On the other hand, a CBI inquiry has been thought fit against those who had invested in his companies legitimately, he observed and asserted that he would move the Supreme Court against the order the High Court.
Asserting that he had neither visited the Secretariat nor the camp office to seek any favors or work done while his father was the Chief Minister, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy even challenged the TV channels to “get sound bytes from even a single IAS officer regarding any favor sought” by him in the past. On the other hand Mr. Ahmed Patel (Political Advisor to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi) was constantly in touch (with the late YSR) for various favors, he charged.
Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy reminded that his late father was instrumental in giving a new lease of life to the Congress to come to power for a second time at the Centre. But the party and leaders after getting benefited have turned ungrateful and indulging in mudslinging against him. He said his YSR Congress party was only against the BJP at the national level and that his party was prepared to work in coordination with all other parties.
The sudden and unexpected outburst of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is a clear pointer that he was rearing to take on his adversaries, especially in the Congress at the national and state level, in the coming days. He seems to be determined to put some “key persons” in the Congress in the dock by washing the dirty linen in the open soon.
