Hyderabad: Extending an invitation to the Left parties to join the proposed dharna to highlight the farmers’ woes on June 13 at all district Collectorates, YSR Congress Party MLC Jupudi Prabhakar Rao on Saturday said that Kadapa MP-elect would lead the protests by picketing the Chittoor district Collectorate on that day.

Mr Prabhakar Rao said that the dharnas are part of the YSR Congress Party’s fight against the total neglect of the farmers by the state government, and said that his party’s stand on many issues is similar to that of the Left parties.

“The Left parties are welcome to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the YSR Congress Party and fight for the farmers’ rights. Our agendas are very similar,” the MLC told media persons at the party’s state head office, Sagar Society in Jubilee Hills.

Mr Prabhakar Rao further said that the Congress party leaders skipped the mention of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name during the function organised to usher in Botsa Satyanarayana as the new Pradesh Congress Committee president at the Gandhi Bhavan earlier in the day.

“They were all elected due to YSR. Now they conveniently do not even mention him. Botsa Satyanarayana has reached a prominent position only due to YSR’s benevolence,” the MLC pointed out.

He also ridiculed Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s words that the Congress would bag 41 seats to the Lok Sabha in the 2014 General Elections.

“The Congress is not in a position to bag even one seat, let alone 41. The people of the state are disenchanted with the party. The party has failed on all fronts. The government too has failed miserable to implement the schemes announced by late Dr YSR. How can the Chief Minister expect the Congress to sweep the polls?” Mr Prabhakar Rao questioned. (INN)
