Hyderabad, Feb. 7 (NSS): The elected representatives from Kadapa district on Monday met in the chamber of the Health Minister, Dr D L Ravindra Reddy in Secretariat and discussed the arrangements for the Chief Minister’s Rachchabanda programme in the district, and the political situation in the district in the wake of the coming by-elections.
The Minister for Minority Welfare, Mr Ahamadulla, the 20 Point Programme Chairman, Dr N Tulasi Reddy and MLCs from Kadapa district attended the meeting and participated in the discussions.
The leaders reportedly discussed how to mobilize the public to Rachabanda programme in which the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy would participate at Kadapa on February 11. Strategy to face the by-election to the Kadapa Parliament constituency and Pulivendula Assembly segment in the district, figured prominently in the discussions. They have also discussed the impact of the merger of PRP into the Congress and the change of political equations in the district.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr D L Ravindra Reddy said that they don’t have ‘hefty money’, but the Kadapa former MP, Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has enough money. He claimed that he would have revealed more things, but for the fact that late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy happened to be his best friend. “ Due to friendship with YSR, I am not talking on some matters”, he added.
He exuded confidence that the Congress would get more percentage of votes in the by-elections to Kadapa Parliament Constituency and Pulivendula Assembly seat than the earlier elections. The Congress would have clear sweep in the elections, if the polls were conducted to seven Assembly seats and two parliament seats in Kadapa district at a time, he added.
Reacting to the ‘Haritha yatra’ of Y S Jagan, the Minister questioned: “Can Mr Jagan tell on which river Polaravam projects was proposed; when the idea of Polavaram project started; and what was the area of KC canal in Kadapa district”. If Mr Jagan knew the answers to these questions, we would give Chief Minister post to him, he said in a satirical manner.
Indirectly referring to Mr Y S Jagan, the Minister said every person may aspire for the Chief Minister post in the party, but there was a method to be followed. Mr Jagan was an individual not a force or power, he added.
Dr Ravindra Reddy informed that the Chief Minister would participate in the Prachabanda programme at Duvvuru in Kadapa district at 2.45 pm on February 11. The Chief Minister would also inspect the works of Galeru-Nagari Flood Flow Canal and Gandikota Tunnel. The Chief Minister will reach Kadapa at 6 pm and stay there for the night. (NSS)
