Hyderabad: Barring minor and stray incidents, the polling in Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies passed off peacefully.
Though polling time for the prestigious by-elections ended at 5 pm, a large number of voters were awaiting their turn to exercise their franchise. The polling officials said that those who reached the booths before 5 pm would be allowed to vote.
Meanwhile, the Chief Election Officer, Mr Bhanwar Lal, said that the YSR Kadapa district witnessed heavy polling. He said the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency witnessed 64 per cent polling while the vote percentage in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency was 82 per cent.
Speaking to mediapersons in his office in the Secretariat after 5 pm, the CEO said that the complete information about the poll percentage and other related matters would be known only after 7 pm. He also disclosed that enquiry would be conducted into the complaints received from all quarters.
Referring to the attack on mediapersons, Mr Bhanwar Lal said that a criminal case would be registered and the court concerned would deal with the issue. (NSS)
