Kalam lays stone for statistics museum at HCU

Hyderabad: The former President and Bharat Ratna Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, laid foundation stone for the prestigious Statistical Museum on the Hyderabad Central University campus, here on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering after laying the stone for the museum, first of its kind in the world, Dr Kalam said that India was being considered as Mother of Statistics and expressed hope that the museum would shine with distinction.

The HCU vice-chancellor, Mr Syed Hasnain, has sanctioned five acres of land for the coveted museum.

Well-known statistician, Dr C R Rao and the Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, Mr V K Saraswath, were also present. (NSS)
