Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA from Sircilla, Mr K Taraka Rama Rao, on Thursday charged the Congress MP from Vijayawada, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, with behaving like a maniac on the issue of bifurcation of the State.

Speaking to mediapersons in Telangana Bhavan, TRS headquarters, here, Mr Rama Rao said that the Lok Sabha Speaker, Ms Meira Kumar, was forced to adjourn the House when the TRS members, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao and Ms Vijayashanti, insisted that the Telangana issue be taken up for discussion in the House. He also pointed out that the members of the BJP and other constituents of the NDA joined the TRS members in their demand.

Referring to the remarks of the AICC leader in charge of AP affairs, Mr Veerappa Moily, Mr Rama Rao said that it appears that the former has no adequate knowledge of the law and Constitution. Stating that it was an open secret that Mr Veerappa Moily had taken “money bags” and spoke in favour of Seemandhra leaders, the TRS leader said that Mr Moily was functioning as incharge of the Seemandhra affairs rather than incharge of AP Congress affairs. He also demanded that the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, sack Mr Moily from the Union Cabinet as he was not fit to be a Law Minister at the Centre. He also alleged that Mr Moily was parroting the version of the Seemandhra capitalists, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal and Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao.
The Centre can adopt similar measures on carving out separate Telangana State that were adopted while carving out 14 States earlier, he added.

The TRS leader said that even if all parties did not agree for bifurcation of State, the Union government can carve out Telangana State if it is determined to do so. Mr KTR said that the people in Telangana were undertaking relay fasts for separation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh like late Potti Sriramulu, who had undertaken hunger strike for separation of Andhra from the then Madras State. But, a maniac like Mr Rajagopal lacked commonsense that people’s representatives should behave in conformity with the wishes of the people of the region.

Stating that common people in the Seemandhra region were extending wholehearted support to the demand of separate Telangana State, he said that the capitalists like Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal were stoutly opposing bifurcation of the State fanatically due to his vested interests in Hyderabad. Questioning Mr Rajagopal as to why he shifted his Lanco head office to Gurgaon in Haryana if he had love for Hyderabad, Mr Rama Rao advised the Seemandhra MPs not to behave foolishly on the Hyderabad issue.

The TRS leader also made it clear that they would continue to stall the proceedings in the Assembly till the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, introduced a resolution on Telangana in the House. He also took the TDP supremo, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, for a task for his dual standards on the issue.

Pointing out to the successful non-cooperation movement launched by the four crore government employees in the region, the TRS leader felt that the government would come to its senses if the police in the region joined the movement. (NSS)
