Kadapa, Feb.14 : The Telugu Desam party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday lambasted the Praja Rajyam party chief, Mr K Chiranjeevi, for joining the ruling Congress party for his “own justice” within two-and-a-half years. He also ridiculed the former megastar saying that “this big boss” who had floated a party in the name of social justice has completed the film very soon and closed the company for his petty selfish interests.
Virtually launching campaigning for the ensuing by-elections for Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies, Mr Naidu launched a scathing attack on late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and his son Jagan Mohan Reddy on the issue of corruption.
Addressing a roadshow as part of “Rythu Kosam” programme in Simhadripuram under Pulivendula Assembly constituency, Mr Naidu alleged that late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had pocketed thousands of crores of rupees in the name of “Jalayagnam. He also alleged that late YSR reportedly spent Rs 1,000 crores in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency in the name “Jalayagnam” and failed to irrigate even single acre of parched land. Stating that late YSR had swallowed public money in the name of executing irrigation projects, Mr Naidu asked as to how the once “debt-ridden” YS family amassed huge wealth.
Alleging that late YSR used to send money suitcases to the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, Mr Naidu said late chief minister had turned the State exchequer empty. Referring to Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Naidu said that the former Kadapa MP has not only inherited all the ill-gotten wealth of his father but also his corrupt mentality. He also said that Mr Jagan would not have contemplated to float his own party had the Congress supremo made him chief minister of the State. Besides late YSR, all his followers and henchmen swallowed public money and turned the State bankrupt, he added.
Reiterating that his party would implement “Cash Transfer” scheme immediately after returning to power, the TDP supremo warned that they would not remain silent spectators if the Congress government neglected the poor farmers and handloom workers any longer. Dubbing the Congress government as “useless” he demanded that it step down honorably if it cannot rule the State properly. Mr Naidu declared that his party would wage a relentless battle on the problems of the farmers, spiraling prices and government’s incompetence.
Stating that there was no democracy in Kadapa district due to the Y S family, the former chief minister said that his party would sweep the poll in the district if elections were conducted in free and fair manner. He alleged that the people live in fear as YSR and Jagan turned these places into their fiefdom and ran riot. Several TDP workers were killed in Kadapa and Pulivendula in the last six years. However, Mr Naidu admitted that as chief minister between 1995 and 2004, he too had failed to some extent to curb factionalism in the region.
Lashing out at the Kiran Kumar Reddy government, Mr Naidu said that administration in the State has miserably failed. The TDP chief began his tour from Simhadripuram where he consoled the families of handloom weavers. He later addressed people at Pulivendula, the hometown of YSR. Naidu was visiting Pulivendula after a gap of six years. His last visit was for the campaign for municipal polls in 2005. (NSS)
