Hyderabad: The Telangana Telugu Desam party Forum convenor, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who raised a banner of revolt on Telangana issue in the party, has said that his party supremo, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, cannot succeed in isolating him as four crores of Telangana people were solidly behind him.

Speaking at the Assembly media point on Monday, Dr Janardhan Reddy asserted that he was not behaving against the party’s attitude and policies. Pointing out that the TDP had taken a decision in the last Mahanadu in favour of separate Telangana and the party politburo also endorsed the decision, Dr Reddy said that they went to the people seeking votes reiterating their commitment to separate State. Reminding that the party politburo did not reconsider its decision on Telangana so far, Dr Reddy advised his party folk to stand by the decision.

Pointing out that the Seemandhra legislators had obstructed the House proceedings with “United Andhra Pradesh” slogan, Dr Reddy asked how the former could go against the party’s decision on Telangana? “When they got the House adjourned indefinitely on united State slogan after December 2009, how can the party legislators from Telangana sit along with them and allow the House to run smoothly,” he asked, adding that it would send a wrong signal to the people of the region.

“Don’t the people of the region find fault us for allowing the House to run smoothly when the members of the TRS, Telangana Congress, BJP, CPI boycotted the House on the Telangana issue?”, he asked. Making it clear that he would take his own decision if the Centre or the TDP took a negative decision on the Telangana issue, Dr Reddy said he would continue in the party till then and would fight for Telangana from within.

Declaring that he was not against the party legislators of the region, he exuded confidence that they would come along with him on the decades’ old issue. He also warned that no political party would exist in the region if they behaved against the sentiments of the people. Refuting the allegations of party leader, Mr Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, Dr Nagam denied that he was blackmailing or cheating anybody in the party. Asserting that he was fighting for separate Telangana in deference to the wishes of the people, he said that the people know about his credentials. (NSS)
