Hyderabad: The senior TDP leader from Telangana region, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, on Saturday deplored that demand for a discussion on suicides of 600 students in Telangana region was denied in the House due to majority of the Seemandhra legislators.
Speaking to the media outside the TDLP Office here, Dr Janardhan Reddy said that even as the spate of students’ suicides was continuing, the employees were on war path and the agitation for Telangana statehood was intensified in the region. Their demand for discussion in the House on the issue has been rejected by the Chair, he reminded and questioned whether Telangana was not in Andhra Pradesh. The House took up discussion on vandalism on Tank Bund, he added.
“We are also condemning the destruction of the statutes on Tank bund and attack on mediapersons”, he maintained. Rejecting the statement of the Home Minister, Ms Sabitha Indira Reddy, that all were responsible for the incident, Dr Nagam alleged that the unrest prevailed in the region only after the withdrawal of December 9, 2009 statement by the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram. He held the Congress government alone responsible for students’ suicides and uncertainty prevailing in the State.
Terming the present Telangana movement as ‘last fight’, the TDP leader felt that the intensified people’s movement would turn into a Tsunami soon. He also quoted the saying of former US President Kennedy that the suppression of peaceful agitations would lead to violence. He also said that they would raise the Telangana issue outside the House.
