Chittoor, Feb.12 (NSS): TDP chief Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu has described the ‘Racha Banda’ programme of the government as ‘Rochu Banda’ and said it was just a publicity stunt and people were not getting any benefit out of it.
He has lambasted the government for its failure to control the prices of essential commodities. He said that before the last elections the government has given ration cards to people indiscriminately to get their votes and withdrew them soon after coming to power.
A similar fraud is now being perpetuated on the people, he alleged and added that the ration cards being issued now would be once again taken back. He said the ‘Adarsh’ program was nothing but cheating of the people, he alleged.
Mr. Naidu who is touring Chittoor district for the second ay, was addressing a meeting at Angallu. He has alleged that the government had totally failed in helping the farmers who were in distress. Warning that his party would fight on behalf of the farmers, he said the TDP would paralyze the assembly on people’s issues.
Earlier Mr. Naidu visited the Rythu Bazar in Madanapalli. Speaking there, he said the Rythu Bazars introduced during his regime, were not being properly maintained by the present government. He said the government should either reduce the prices of essential commodities or step down. He has addressed a road show there.
NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION IS NOT TDP’S AGENDA
Referring to demand by some parties that the TDP should move a no-confidence motion against the government, he said it was not the agenda of his party to move such a motion and bring the government down. Referring to the criticism of the TRS on this account, he said his party knew its duties and need not be offered suggestions. He said it was atrocious that the TRS was supporting Mr. Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who was for unified Andhra.
He has indirectly criticized Mr. Jagan by stating that some people had started political parties only to grab power.
Referring to the decision of Mr. Chiranjeevi to merge his party in Congress, Mr. Naidu has said it was ridiculous that he chose to merge his party conveniently forgetting that he once said he launched the party only to establish social justice and fight the corrupt Congress government. He has taken the merger decision even without telling his party workers, Naidu added. “What answer he has now for the people,” he questioned. Mr. Naidu said the TDP was the only party that had been fighting relentlessly for the past 29 years against the Congress misrule. (NSS)
