The walkathons of TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila continued in different parts of Andhra Pradesh today.
Naidu, who began his padayatra on October two, continued his foot march in Kurnool district today interacting with people belonging to various sections.
Addressing a gathering, he hit out at “failures” of the Congress government on various fronts and alleged corruption during its rule.
Naidu said old age pensions would be enhanced and old age homes will be set up for the benefit of senior citizens if the party is voted to power.
Naidu’s ‘padayatra’ is set to enter the Telangana region tomorrow in Mahabubnagar district amid demands by a section of Telangana supporters that he spell out his party’s stand on the separate statehood demand.
“Naidu is asking the Centre to hold all-party meet on Telangana, when he is asked to stand by his promise to support formation of separate state. His future in Telangana will be bleak. What is wrong if the leaders from non-Telangana, who are blocking the formation of Telangana, are stopped in their way when they visit the region,” TRS MLA K T Rama Rao said.
Meanwhile, Sharmila, began the fourth day of her ‘padayatra’ in Pulivendula in native Kadapa district, the YSR family stronghold, and it concluded in the evening during which she interacted with farmers and others.
She hit out at the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for allegedly failing to take effective steps to prevent the ongoing power crisis in the state.
