Hyderabad: The senior Congress member, Mr Paladugu Venkata Rao, on Saturday complained in the Council that the Chief Marshal, who submitted his report to the Speaker on the attack on the Lok Satta member, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, and himself on the Assembly premises recently, had not taken his version, though he was one of the victims. He also said that though he was present at the spot, neither his version was taken nor of mediapersons, who were present.
Raising the issue in the Council, he has charged the Marshal of being the first culprit in the attack on him and Dr Jayaprakash Narayan and said that he was unfit for the post. He also alleged that the report would be biased. He said that preparations were made for the attack even two days before the actual incident.
Mr Paladugu urged the Chairman to get a copy of the Marshal’s report and place it on the table of the House. He also said that an inquiry should be ordered afresh so that the versions of all concerned were taken. He charged the Marshal of failing in his duty of protecting the Governor and hence was unfit for the post.
The Congress member, Mr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, said that there was no second opinion on what Mr Paladugu had said. He said that it was necessary that the versions of all concerned be taken before preparing a report on the incident.
The TDP floor leader, Mr Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, urged the Chairman to get a copy of the report of the Marshal and place it on the table of the House. He said that it would not add to the respect of the elders’ house to know about the report from TV news reports.
The Chairman, Dr A Chakrapani, has said that he would look into the matter. He pointed out that the Upper House has already condemned the incident. (NSS)
