PCC urges CEO to ensure elections

Hyderabad: A delegation of the APCC leaders on Saturday met the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Bhanwar Lal, and urged him to ensure that the Kadapa byelections were conducted free and fair elections.

Talking to the media after meeting the CEO, the PCC representatives, Mr Madasu Gangadhar and Mr Kamalakar Rao said that the CEO had assured them that action would be taken against the independent candidates of Kadapa who were acting in favour of the YSR Congress candidate, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The duo said that it was the duty of the EC to prove that democratic values were protected well through these by elections. They said the EC would be squarely responsible if rules were violated in the Sunday’s polls. They said so far there was no response from the EC to their complaint that money was kept with the Bharati Cements for distribution to the voters. (NSS)
