Hyderabad: A delegation of Pradesh Congress Committee leaders on Sunday urged the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Bhanwarlal, to take urgent steps to ensure fair polling in a large number of polling booths in Kadapa Lok Sabha Constituency.

In a memorandum submitted to the CEO in the forenoon, the APCC vice-president, Mr Madasu Gangadhar, the PCC general secretaries, Mr Radraraju Padmaraju, MLC, Mr Gidugu Rudraraju, and PCC legal cell convenors and coordinators of PCC Poll Control Room, Mr B Srinivas Goud and Mr G Rama Rao, complained that there was widespread failure of the much-publicised webcasting from the polling stations in Kadapa. Besides, the strenuous efforts of election authorities to have complete video coverage of voting process have become useless in a large number of polling stations in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, they added.

Alleging that the polling officials were visibly lenient, the PCC leaders expressed fears of problems like cyclic rigging and impersonation by the supporters of the candidates of Ceiling Fan symbol after lunch. The privileged, pass holding OB vans and press vehicles of Saakshi TV channel were carrying the armed supporters of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, they added. (NSS)
