Police cancel permission to shooting of ‘Benzawada Rowdeelu’

Vijayawada: The Vijayawada police commissioner, Mr.Amit Garg, has cancelled the permission given for the shooting of noted director Mr Ram Gopal Varma’s “Bezawada Rowdeelu”.

Ever since Mr Varma announced the title of the film, several citizens of Vijayawada raised objection to it, as it was degrading all the citizens of the city. The Sarvodaya Mandali has also appealed to the police commissioner to stop the shooting and cancel the permissions given to the director.

The police commissioner has taken the decision to withdraw the permissions, after consulting legal experts.

It is learnt that the police have asked Mr Varma to give the script in advance so that it could be discussed with legal experts. Police told the unit members that permissions could be given only after ascertaining with legal experts that the shooting would not cause law and order problem. The Commissioner also reportedly asked the unit to state at what location they wish to shoot each scene. However, the unit members have reportedly told the police that it would not be possible to give the script in advance, as it gets changed frequently.

It is learnt that the Commissioner, after discussing with legal experts, had come to the conclusion that shooting of the film would cause law and order problems. (NSS)
