Vizianagaram: The police showed their wrath on the agitating AASHA health workers at Vizianafaram on Thursday. Four health workers were severely injured and even lost consciousness due to the indiscriminate beating by the C.I, Mr Trinath and other police men.
Demanding an increase in their salaries, the AASHA health workers resorted to agitation in front of the District Health Office in Vizianagaram on Thursday. They even tried to lay seize to the office. Enraged by it, the Circle Inspector, Mr Trinath resorted to indiscriminate lathi charge on the women health workers.
On learning about the said incident, the Home Minister, Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy condemned the act of the Circle Inspector. She also directed the Superintendent of Police to take disciplinary action against him. Several voluntary organizations in the State condemned the incident at Vizijanagaram.
