Hyderabad: The Congress MP from Karimnagar, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, and his Nalgonda counterpart, Mr Gutta Sukhender Reddy, have alleged that it was because of the Seemandhra leaders that Telangana leaders were unable to unite for the cause of Telangana State.

Talking to the media before the start of the Telangana Congress people’s representatives meeting in the Exhibition Grounds Society Office here on Sunday, they said that they were fighting for Telangana with commitment. They said the Seemandhra leaders were scuttling the unity of Telangana leaders.

The MPs said that they did not want to set any deadline to the Congress High Command on the Telangana issue. However, they said they believed that the Telangana statehood process would soon start. They also exuded confidence that the Centre would take an early decision in the matter in the ensuing session of Parliament. Otherwise, they were ready to stall the proceedings in Parliament, they warned.

Mr Prabhakar said it was being discussed whether to go on fast-unto- death or submitting resignations, if the Union government did not respond to the Telangana demand. Referring to the call of the Telangana Political JAC not to allow the people’s representatives opposed to Telangana into the villages, he said it was wrong to obstruct leaders who were already agitating for Telangana. He has demanded that the TDP disclosed its stand on Telangana.
