President inaugurated Vengamamba Annadana complex

Tirumala: The President, Ms Pratibha Devisingh Patil, here on Thursday afternoon inaugurated the Tarigonda Vengamamba Nitya Annadana Building Comple, which was constructed with the donations offered by devotees of the Lord.

The Governor, Mr E S L Narasimhan, the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Praja Rajyam party president, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, the ministers, Mr N Raghuveera Reddy and Dr J Geeta Reddy and TTD officials were present.

The President unveiled the plaque at the entrance of the new complex amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by pundits. Later, she inspected “Roti” making machine and offered prayers to Vakulamata statue installed inside the kitchen. She also had lunch along with her family members.

The TTD Specified Authority chairman, Mr J. Satyanarayana explained to her about Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba, who pioneered the cause of Annadanam in Tirumala to devotees. Later, she greeted the donors for their largesse. The devotional musical concert by renowned singer Ms Gopika Purnima and troupe, Vegesna Foundation’s Srivani and Rishikesh enthralled the distinguished guests. Ms Purnima rendered the devotional penned by Saint Poet Annamacharya and Saint Poetess Vengamamba.
