Bodhan (Nizamabad), Feb.11 (NSS): Transparency and accountability will increase with proper utilization of RTI act, thus enabling development and welfare schemes reach the needy, said Dr. V. Vasundhara Devi, Reader, Nizamabad Women’s Degree College and RTI Activist.
She was speaking at a workshop organized on RTI Act on the second day of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign here on Thursday. Explaining the genesis, implementation and utilization of RTI Act, she felt that the Act would be of great help in reducing corruption and irregularities in governance. Every public servant even if he takes a single rupee from government as salary is liable under this Act she said.
Earlier in the session, Mr. T.V.K. Reddy, Director, PIB in his address said that the UPA government has given utmost importance to this Act and because of this Act even an ordinary citizen could get rights on par with MPs and MLAs for seeking information from government.
Mr. M.V.V.S Murthy, Addl. Director General, PIB , Mr. Satish Chandra, RDO, Bodhan, Mr. Baquer Mirza, Director, PIB, ADMHO Dr. Kannaiah, CDPOs of Bodahan and Banswada Ms. Meera Benerjee and Mrs. Sarada participated in the event. (NSS)
