Satya Sai Baba Trust’s driver held while shifting cash

Puttaparti: Police have reportedly arrested Srinivasan, driver of the Satya Sai Central Trust, in connection with the shifting of crores of rupees illegally from the Prasanti Nilayam.

According to the information, several crores of rupees were caught by the police at the Kodikonda checkpost last midnight and it was learnt that it was one Sekharan who had handed over the cash to the police. Two more Tamil youths were arrested by the police while moving cash illegally from Puttaparti to Bengaluru in a Volvo bus. These two youths were being interrogated, police said.

It is learnt that the driver Srinivasan told the police that the cash was given to him by the Trust members. Trust member, Mr Srinivasan’s driver, Mr Sohan Kutti, is also in the custody of Bengaluru police, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, the police said that they had seized Rs 35.5 lakhs at the Kodikonda checkpost. Police have confirmed that the cash belonged to the Satya Sai Trust. They said the person arrested in this connection was identified as the driver of a Trust member.

Police also stated that they were now inquiring about the transportation of the money. They said the accused would be produced before a judge in Hindupur and the amount seized would also be handed over to the court.
