Seemandhra Cong leaders once again ready to resign

Vijayawada: The Seemandhra Congress leaders have once again decided to quit their posts, if necessary, to keep the State united.

The decision was taken at a round table conference of Seemandhra Congress leaders here on Saturday. Seven ministers, 18 MLAs and six MLCs attended the meeting held in IV Palace here. However, the Congress leaders of the north coastal districts have abstained from the meeting. It is being said that they abstained as per the directions of the PCC Chief, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana.

Talking to the media after the meeting, ministers Shailajanath and Mandali Budha Prasad said they were ready for any sacrifices for keeping the State united.

Meanwhile, minister D L Ravindra Reddy has said he also supported the United Andhra demand and could not attend the meeting as key tenders of his department needed to be finalized on Saturday. Mr Shailajanath, Mr Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, Mr. Parthasarathy, Mr. Yerasu Pratapa Reddy, Mr. T G Venkatesh and Mr. Pitani were among the ministers who attended the meeting. Mr. Malladi Vishnu, Mr. Jogi Ramesh, Mr. Rajesh, Mr. D S Dasu and Mr. Gade Venkata Reddy were among the MLAs and Mr. Paladugu Venkata Rao, Mr. Singam Basava Punnaiay, Mr. Rayapati Srinivas and Mr. Ila Venkaiah were among the MLCs who attended the meeting. Mr. Tulasi Reddy chairman of the 20 point programme implementation committee has also attended the meeting. There was no representation from the Nellore district.
