The Students Islamic Organization (SIO) will organize a March to Parliament on November 22 in protest against arrests of Muslim youth. The SIO demanded the government table the ‘Prevention of Communal Violence Bill’ in the winter session so that the Muslim youths would be protected against atrocities during communal riots. The SIO also demanded that the Centre and State government act against the erring police officials, who falsely arrested the innocent people.
Speaking to media, Ateef Ismail,SIOStatepresident, said that during Parliament March inNew Delhi, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Arundati Roy, Amit Mishra and representatives of civil liberties, human rights, social activists would participate. He said the SIO would organize Parliament March to bring awareness among the people about the arrests in fake cases. He felt that such arrests are meant to demoralize the Muslim community which would be dangerous to the integrity of the nation.
Mujahid, SIO secretary, said that some fascist forces in the Police department were targeting the Muslim youth and damaging their careers. Arrests without warrant cannot be accepted at any costs, he said, adding that Supreme Court orders must be followed while arresting any suspicious person. He also demanded that those who proved innocent in the court of law and released, they should be provided with government jobs and adequate compensation. He demanded that the government set up fast track courts to expeditiously settle the cases of illegal arrests.
